HSBC Bank Middle East Limited and asset manager Daman announced the formation of Arabian Real Estate Investment Trust (AREIT) January 28, 2006. It's the first Real Estate Investment Trust formed in the Gulf region.
Arabian Real Estate Investment Trust is Not Publicly Listed
It's managed by AREIT Management Ltd. It invests in prime commercial property throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar.
It is a private placement. It's not listed on any stock exchange. Their shareholders include Daman Asset Management, HSBC Bank Middle East Limited and Jazra Investments Limited.
Chairman of the Board of Directors and Independent Director is Robert McCuaig. They have offices in Dubai, Riyadh Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
For one example, it bought the Wind Tower in Bahrain's Diplmatic Area in 2008, which is a landmark office building.
