Firm Capital Mortgage Investment Trust is the only mortgage type real estate investment trust in Canada, that I could find. It is somehow connected to Firm Capital Corporation, because its website is simply a page within the parent company's web site. Firm Capital Corporation is the trust's mortgage banker.
Firm Capital provides residential and commercial real estate financing, such as loan origination, underwriting, loan servicing and syndication services.

Firm Capital is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under ticker symbol FC.UN. Eli Dadouch is President and Chief Executive Officer. Their mortgage portfolio is over $C 179 million.
They say they're looking for niche markets underserved by large banks, which basically means riskier real estate loans banks don't want to touch.
In times of financial trouble and turmoil, especially in the current credit crunch, all mortgage REITs are risky.
