Sunstone Hotel Investors is a lodging REIT that has upscale 45 hotels with nearly 16,000 rooms for guests. It operates hotels with brand names such as Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Starwood, and Fairmont. They like markets that have high barriers to entry.
Their ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange is SHO. They had their IPO and went public on October 26, 2004.
Along with Strategic Hotels & Resorts, Sunstone Hotel has a joint venture called BuyEfficient LLC. It's an Internet-based purchasing management platform. It has 600 participating members in the United States and Canada.
