SL Green Realty Corp is a REIT that specializes in acquiring, owning, repositioning, leasing and managing Manhattan office buildings. It's the only real estate investment trust that is only in this market. It now owns over 30 Manhattan office buildings, comprising 22 million square feet, making it Manhattan's largest office landowner.
It trades on the New York Stock Exchange with the stock ticker symbol of SLG. It also holds investment interests in over 30 suburban assets in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, Westchester County, Connecticut, and New Jersey -- about 7.5 million square feet.
It was formed August 20, 1997, as an extension of the S. L. Green Properties, Inc company founded in 1980 by Stephen L. Green. In 2007, they acquired Reckson Associates Realty. So it now owns 67 office and retail properties.
SL Green Realty Properties Include:
100 Park Avenue, 521 Fifth Avenue, 110 East 42nd Street, 1 Madison Avenue, 1350 Avenue of the Americas, 16 Court Street in Brooklyn and 1 Court Square in Long Island. They offer high class services to their tenants.
SL Green Realty Corporation will obviously rise and fall in conjunction with the economic health of Midtown Manhattan where it's focused. Although it owns some outlying properties, they're all still in and around New York City. Hence, it's vulnerable to any problem that hits New York City.
