Vornado Realty Trust is a one of the largest fully-integrated real estate investment trusts in the United States. They own a diversified portfolio of commercial real estate, with over 100 million square feet of properties. They are concentrated in four areas: New York City offices, Washington D.C. offices (Vornado/Charles E. Smith division), retail, and merchandise mart.
Vornado's New York Stock Exchange symbol is VNO. Their headquarters are in New York City.
In New York City, Vornado Realty has 28 office properties primarily in mid-town Manhattan, a total of 16.1 million square feet.
In Washington D.C. and northern Virginia, VNO has 85 properties totally 17.6 million square feet.
They also own 177 retail properties spread over 21 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
They own 8 Merchandise Marts, a total of 8.9 million square feet including the 3.4 million square feet of the Chicago Merchandise Mart.
They also own 32.6% interest in Alexander's, Inc (NYSE: ALX), 32.7% interest in Toys R Us (16 million square feet), Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City, and interests in other commercial real estate. Also, they make mezzanine loans to other real estate companies.

Vornado Realty is a REIT well positioned to profit from economic activity through the U.S. Its office properties are too concentrated, though in the two most important cities in the United States. But it does also receive income from retail shopping centers widely scattered around the country.
