Capstead Mortgage Corporation is a self-managed mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) that invest in real estate-related assets, using leverage.
Capstead Mortgage Residential ARM Securities
Capstead has a major portfolio of residential adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) securities issued and guaranteed by the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) or Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) or the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae).
It was started in 1985 and has its headquarters in Dallas Texas. New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol is CMO.
Capstead Mortgage has also come out with two issues of preferred stock, which also trade on the New York Stock Exchange. The $1.60 Cumulative Preferred Stock, Series A (CMOPRA) and the $1.26 Cumulative Convertible Preferred Stock, Series B (CMOPRB).
On November 9, 2007, Capstead bought up the remaining 25% of Redtail Capital Partners, L.P., a commercial real estate loan limited partnership. Andrew Jacobs is the President and Chief Executive Officer.
Capstead Mortgage sold its mortgage servicing business to GMAC Mortgage Corporation December 21, 1998.
